Erika
I didn’t grow up with the hardships that would make someone say “Wow, you really made it out.” I was the daughter of a dentist with every opportunity a girl could want in a small suburb of Houston, Texas. So, I won’t pretend that my life has been difficult. But, I have had many experiences. Those experiences have led me to examine my upbringing, the dichotomy of being told that I “could do anything” while also being taught that “girls don’t act like that” and how those opposing messages shaped my experiences. I’ll also talk about how I think they’ll affect my future.

When I hit 40, I reached my IDGAF era. The truth is that I still have many fucks to give, but finding healthy balance in allocating them is a journey.
I’ve always enjoyed writing, but I haven’t done enough of it. I like speaking. Maybe this will eventually be accompanied by videos or other media. But, for now, here’s the word of Erika.
In an effort to keep content fresh, I’m open to suggestions, additional authors, guest posts, etc. But, if I say “no” then please don’t take it personally. It could be that the content doesn’t align with what I’m trying to achieve. Saying “no” is something I’m getting better at doing and hearing “no” is something I’m getting better at accepting.
I also am trying to live more “yes” by opening myself to new possibilities and experiences. Some are funny, weird, surprising.
Let’s learn, admit mistakes, celebrate wins, and expose our inner monologues.
